The author, R. Zecharya Mendel of Yaroslav (died between 1788-1796), prominent disciple of R. Elimelech of Lizhensk. Nephew of the brothers R. Pinchas Horowitz and R. Shmelke of Nikolsburg. After a while, he left his position as rabbi of Yaroslav to concentrate on disseminating Chassidut.
Divrei Tzadikim, novellae on the Torah and selections on Neviim and Ketuvim and on the Talmudic tractates, by R. Dov Berish Frumer of Oshpitzin. Zhovkva: Moses Meyerhoffer, [ca. 1845]. First edition.
The author, R. Dov Berish Frumer (d. 1838), disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin and other Chassidic leaders. R. Moshe of Lelov testified that he attained the level of the Chozeh, and that he is unparalleled amongst contemporary Torah leaders. Rabbi of Oshpitzin (Oświęcim) in his final years.
Extra copy of the publisher's foreword, title page and approbation bound in the middle of the selections at the end of the book.

The book is divided into two parts: Sur MeRa and VeAseh Tov. In later editions, the book was published under the joint title – Sur MeRa VeAseh Tov.
Rebbe Tzvi Hirsh Eichenstein, the Ateret Tzvi of Zidichov (1763-1831), was known by the name "Sar Beit HaZohar" due to his exceptional knowledge of kabbalah. Close disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin. Under his leadership, Zidichov became one of the largest and most prominent Chassidic centers in Galicia.

Lengthy and interesting preface by the author, at the end of which he promises anyone who assists in publishing the book or helps his Chassidim: " …those who support us… G-d will protect them from all illness and affliction, and their prestige and fortune will be raised with blessing, wealth, honor and happiness, good fortune, sons, life and livelihood".
In his book Zohar Chai, the author guarantees that anyone who studies the present work will rest in the World to Come without needing to return as a Gilgul.
