Sephardi machzor for the High Holidays. Amsterdam, [1689]. Printed by Yosef Athias. The machzor is divided into two volumes. The first volume: Bakashot and Selichot for the month of Elul, prayers for Rosh Hashanah, the Fast of Gedalya and Shabbat Teshuva. The second volume: Yom Kippur prayers. In the first volume - a copper etching of an illustration of the Tabernacle and the Camp of the Jews in the desert. Contemporary leather binding with ornamentation and gilt embossment of the name of the owner: C. Mendoza. Gilt edges. Volume 1: [1] 119 leaves. Volume 2: 120-309, 400-402 leaves. 15 cm. On Leaf 58/a is a printed illustration of a LaMenatze’ach menorah. Bound between Leaves 106-107 and Leaves 107-108 are handwritten leaves with prayers [V’Zot HaTorah, Yehi Ratzon for Birkat HaChodesh]. Tehillim with Yiddish translation [Tzena U’Rena letters]. [1], 172, ([1], 90-98 leaves), 173-241, 243-294 leaves; 82 leaves. (Incomplete copy - originally: [2], 241, 243-294; 82, [1], 90-115; 11 leaves). The siddur and the Tehillim are complete, the illustrated half-title is missing. Seder Ma’amadot in bound out of order (between leaves 172-173), and is missing about 27 leaves of Ma’amadot and techinot (pleas). 18 cm. Fair condition. Stains and wear. Tears to title page and several leaves, with [restored] damages to text. Margins cut on text borders, with damage to titles.
