Passover Haggadah – Ma’aleh Beit Chorin, “According to Ashkenazi and Sephardi tradition”, with the Alshich commentary, Gevurot Hashem by the Maharal, and Ollelot Efraim by Rabbi Shalom Efraim of Luntschitz [author of Kli Yakar]. Amsterdam, [1781]. Printed by Proops. First edition of the haggadah by this name. Copper-etched half-title page. Copper-etched illustrations according to the 1795 Amsterdam edition. At the end of the haggadah is a large [folded] leaf with a map of Eretz Israel. [2] 52 leaves + folding map. 24.5 cm. Good condition. Stains. Some leaves have many dark stains from wine and food. Ma’aleh Bet Chorin, Passover Haggadah with Ashkenazi (Yiddish) translation and commentaries (Maharal, Alshich, Abarbanel, etc.) and illustrations. Amsterdam, 1810. Printed by the widow Proops. Two title pages (preliminary title page with a copperplate illustration). Enclosed at the end of the book is a folded Hebrew map, demonstrating the Jewish people’s travels in the desert and the partition of the Land of Israel among the Tribes. The map and the copperplate illustrations follow the illustrations by Abraham Ben Jacob Hagar from the 1695 Amsterdam Haggadah. Ownership inscription on leaf preceding title page: “Pinchas ben Rabbi Yitzchak Anderson, 6 Nisan 1855”. [2], 9, 50 leaves + folded map. 26 cm. Fair to good condition, Stains, dampness and worming [slight damage to text in several places]. The map is in good condition, minor restorations to margins. Detached and damaged binding. Passover Haggadah, in Hebrew and Italiano [Italian in Hebrew letters], with commentaries and with “tzurot of all the signs and wonders”. Venice, [1716]. Bragadini Printing Press. All the pages are adorned with architectural frames with many wood-cut illustrations. This Haggadah was simultaneously published in two other editions, “In the language of the Ashkenazim” [Yiddish] and “in the language of the Sephardim” [Ladino]. [26] leaves. 31 cm. Fair-poor condition. Stains, creases and wear. Coarse tears and damage (with light damages to text). Tape restorations. Non-contemporary binding. Ya’ari 81; Otzar HaHaggadot 131.
