Responsa Nechpah BaKesef, by R. Yonah Navon – teacher of the Chidah – two parts in two volumes: Part I – Constantinople: Brothers Reuven and Nissim sons of Yonah Ashkenazi, [1748]; Part II – Jerusalem: R. Yisrael Bak, [1843]. First edition of both parts.
Part II opens with the work Pri MiPri by R. Yonah Navon – novellae on Pri Chadash and Pri Toar.
On the front endpaper of part II, dedication handwritten by R. Yaakov Shaul Elyashar, Rishon LeTzion and rabbi of Jerusalem, stepson of the publisher and proofreader of the present book.
On the title page of part I, signature-stamp of R. Chaim Shmuel HaKohen – Hasenior (d. 1873). Born in Italy, he immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1827. He settled in Tiberias where he served as community leader, emissary, and later rabbi of the city.
Two parts in two volumes. Part I: [1], 190, 6 leaves. Lacking leaf 7 at end of book; Part II: [2], 132 leaves. Approx. 30 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, including dampstains. Worming, affecting text. A few marginal tears to part II, slightly affecting text in one place. Title page and final leaf of part I reinforced with tape, with slight damage to border. Inscriptions, signature and stamps. New bindings.
