Chazon Nachum, novellae on Mishnayot Order Kodashim, by R. Eliezer Nachum. Constantinople, [1743].
On the title page, inscription (slightly trimmed) handwritten by R. Mordechai Yosef Meyuchas, attesting that he received the book as gift from R. Yosef Chaim ibn Benveniste, with his calligraphic signature, followed by another inscription of his name. Quill trials and other inscriptions on this leaf. A few glosses.
R. Mordechai Yosef Meyuchas (1738-1806), a Torah scholar of Jerusalem, emissary, kabbalist and Rishon LeTzion. He was the son of R. Refael Meyuchas and son-in-law of R. Yom Tov Algazi, whom he succeeded as Rishon LeTzion. Dean of the Knesset Yisrael yeshiva in Jerusalem.
Lettered in gilt on leather binding: "Chaim Yisrael Romano" (wealthy merchant from Constantinople who built the famous Beit Romano building in Hebron).
[4], 259, [3] leaves. 20.5 cm. Good condition. Stains, including dampstains. Tears to several leaves, slightly affecting text. Worming to several leaves. Original elegant leather binding, with gilt lettering. Defects to binding.
