R. Toviah HaLevi (d. ca. 1618), was a prominent Torah scholar and leader in Safed in the generation following the Beit Yosef and the Arizal. Close disciple of R. Shlomo Sagis, whom he quotes repeatedly in this work.
Calligraphic signature at the foot of the title page (partially deleted) of R. Avraham Carigal, Torah scholar of Jerusalem and Hebron, served as emissary in 1679-1681.
Signature on title page of R. Eliyahu Lehava, Torah scholar of Hebron, travelled as emissary in 1779 together with R. Yehuda Navon.

R. Shlomo of Dubno (1739-1813), disciple of the Mirkevet HaMishneh. Renowned as an expert on the Biblical text, Masorah and grammar, he was asked by the Gaon of Vilna to clarify the accurate Masorah of the Books of Neviim and Ketuvim.
The commentary to Megillat Ruth was in fact composed by R. Chaim HaKohen of Aleppo and not by R. David Lida. R. Yaakov Emden sharply criticized the book and accused the author of plagiarism.
