Zohar Chai, kabbalistic and Chassidic commentary on the Zohar, by Rebbe Yitzchak Eizik Yehudah Yechiel Safrin, Rabbi of Zidichov and Komarno, author of Heichal HaBerachah. Lviv-Przemyśl: Avraham Nisan Süss and Meshulam Nik, and Chaim Aharon Zupnik and Chaim Knoller, 1875-1881. First edition. Four of five parts, without part III – first part of Book of Shemot (Parashiot Shemot-Mishpatim).
Zohar Chai is an original and profound commentary on the Zohar, based on the teachings of the Arizal and the Baal Shem Tov.
The author, Rebbe Yitzchak Eizik Yehudah Yechiel Safrin, Rabbi of Zidichov (Zhydachiv) and Komarno (1806-1874), a leading transmitter of the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov. His books, in particular the Heichal HaBerachah commentary, are considered classic Chassidic works and were cherished by prominent Chassidic leaders.
On last endpaper of second volume, encouragement and rhymed inspirational poem on repentance, dated 1885.

Volume IV (Vayikra-Devarim): [2], 228, [5] leaves. Misfoliation of leaves 9-12 and 169-172. 24.5-25 cm. Dry, brittle paper to some leaves (somewhat dark in some places). Overall good-fair condition. Several leaves in fair condition. Stains, on some leaves many stains. Creases. Tears, including open tears, affecting text (many tears to first leaves of third volume). Worming to some volumes. Original fabric bindings with leather spines. Much wear, worming, and much damage to bindings, and many open tears to spines.
