"Otsar Hahayal" bank started as mutual aid funds put together by Jewish Brigade soldiers. After World War II, in November 1946, the veterans' representatives had decided to found "Otsar Hahayal" to assist discharged soldiers with loans and housing. Following the War of Independence the bank granted loans to IDF discharged soldiers.

About 450 checks, letters, forms, account books and other paper items, documenting the activity of the "Klinger Bank" in Safed. Safed, Tel-Aviv, Haifa, Tiberias and other places in Palestine, 1920s-40s. Hebrew and English.
The "Klinger Bank" was the second Jewish bank in Palestine. It was founded early in the 20th century by Yoel Barshad, Zvi Barzel and Eliyahu Klinger, and was one of the most important banks at the time. Among others, the bank granted loans to institutes and personalities of the Old Yishuv, issued bills when trade was prohibited during World War I, supported small banks and even survived a fire during the 1929 Riots. Late in the 1960s the bank was sold to "Bank Leumi".
This collection includes, among others:
* About 100 bank checks, printed, filled in by hand and signed with ink-stamps, issued by various banks in Palestine: "Barclays Bank", "Palestine Mercantile Bank Ltd.", "Ottoman Bank", "Palestine Kupat Am Bank", checks of "Klinger Bank" and more.
* About 350 documents, accounts, letters and forms for bank transfers, documenting the bank activities and its relations with other banks.
* Nine accounting and stock books of "The Petroleum Company (Egypt)" managed by Eliyahu Klinger, company's agent. The books contain dozens of entries (carbon-copy, from the years 1921-1925).

Two handwritten ledgers, documenting loans and other financial data related to the settlers in Palestine and its vinicity. [Palestine? early decades of the 20th century]. English and some Hebrew and Arabic.
* Ledger, apparently recording loans to settlers in Palestine. Each page is dedicated to one person. At the top of the page are his name and address (in English, and occasionally in Hebrew or Arabic) followed by a chart with details of the payments received (amounts and dates). Signed declarations which attest to receiving obligations appear on some pages. Most of the people whose names appear in the book resided in various neighborhoods of Jerusalem, and some dwelled in other cities (Bethlehem, Safed, etc.).
Approximately 230 written pages + blank leaves. 34 cm. Fair condition. Stains, creases and tears. Detached or loose leaves and signatures. Damaged and loose binding.
* Ledger recording data related to various banks. At the top of each page is the name of the bank and year (ca. 1886-1922) followed by lists of names and serial numbers. Among the names of the banks are Credit Foncier Egyptien (a French bank located in Egypt), Belgiques, Hollandais, Halva'a V'Chisachon. Some leaves bear ink stamps from the late 1920s. A paper label of Joseph L. Chagise appears on inner side of the front cover.
Approximately 60 written pages, 35 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains. Creases and minor defects. Damaged binding, with tears to margins and to spine.

Collection of receipts and paper items recording the aid activities by American organizations for famine victims in Russia, among them receipts for transfer of money and food packages from New York to Odessa, from Ernestine Berkowitz, (daughter of Shalom Aleichem and wife of Yitzchak Dov Berkowitz) to Nadezhda Abramovitz, daughter of Mendele Mocher Sefarim. United States, early 20th century. English, Russian and Yiddish.
Among the items:
* Receipts for transfer of donations (food packages or money) from the United States to Russia, from Erenetine Berkowitz to Nadezhda Abramovitz; receipts from the American Relief Administration; a receipt from a Jewish-Berliner aid organization for Pogrom and disaster victims in Russia and Ukraine ("Idisher gezelshaftlikhter hilfs-komitet"); bank receipts for money transfer (Russian Commercial & Industrial Bank). On the back of one receipt appears a letter handwritten by Nadezhda Abramovitz; a Russian Red Cross Commodity Draft Receipt.
* Bank check signed by Yitzchak Dov Berkowitz )given to his daughter, Ernestine).
* Leaflet printed on behalf of the American Relief Administration towards the beginning of distribution of food in Russia. The leaflet explains how the distribution will be carried out and how to donate money and send food packages to Russia. Russian.
* Card in the name of Avraham Kahana, on behalf of HIAS, a Jewish-American organization founded to assist Jewish immigrants from Europe. Printed in Yiddish and English (with details filled in by hand).
In the years 1921-1922, following the Russian civil war, Russians suffered a severe famine. During the famine, the Soviet administration received aid from different countries, among them the United States. The American aid was coordinated by the American Relief Administration.

Among the items:
* Approximately 70 broadsides, most from the time of the British Mandate, by various organizations and entities: "Va'ad Poalot Jaffa"; "HaPoel HaTza'ir; the Chief Rabbinate; "Management of the Tel Aviv Great Synagogue"; "National Religious Union"; "National Front"; supplements to the Davar and Chadashot newspapers; and more.
* 11 postcards, including a postcard by the Poel Hatzair promoting Shekel payment for 1937, with photomontage by the photographer Moshe Vorobeichic (Raviv); six postcards with poems and musical notes from the series "Songs of the homeland, compiled by Menashe Rabinowitz"; etc.

* Bulei HaGolah ("Stamps of the Diaspora") booklet, published by the JNF. Consists of 20 postage stamps with illustrations of Jews and Jewish sites, by Efraim Moshe Lilien, Hermann Struck, Joseph Budko and others. Presumably, the booklet was distributed to students in Palestine during WWII. On its back are explanations for children and the inscription "All revenue from the sale of these stamps is dedicated to redeeming land for the children of Jewish survivors". The name of the owner of the notebook and his school were added in pencil.
* Four printed certificates, filled in by hand and stamped, issued for the Jewish woman Dora Siew after the Holocaust: A membership notebook of the Jewish Students' Union in Munich; membership card of the Confederation of General Zionists in Germany; Authorization by the Jewish Agency, Immigrant office; Identity card of the SWRJ (Jewish Refugees Welfare Society).
* Certificate of participation in the ceremony of bringing Jabotinsky's remains to Israel, bearing the signatures of Menachem Begin, Aharon Proops and Yosef Klarman, issued in 1964.
