"Here Comes the Army", a toy made by the "Amarna" company. [Israel, ca. 1959s].
An illustrated paper strip, wrapped around two rollers in a wooden frame. One of the rollers protrudes out of the frame, and when it is turned, a "parade" of small figures starts moving – the IDF forces: the navy, the infantry, an armored vehicle, a Davidka mortar, a rider on a horse and airplanes.
Possibly, the illustration was made by Rudolf Sidner, who designed the 1951 Independence Day Poster.
Width of paper strip: 6.5 cm. Wooden frame: approx. 9X18 cm. Good-fair condition. Restored tears to paper strip. Presumably, two illustrated plates that were originally mounted to the wooden frame (with a cut "window" through which the parade could be seen) are missing.
