Five Palestinian necklaces and beaded chains. Hebron Region, [first half of 20th century].
Silver; low-grade silver; silver and aluminum coins; beads; cotton fabric.
1-2. Two delicate "sha'riyeh" necklaces. Single cloth strand, from which roughly 50 small, delicate silver pendants and plastic beads are suspended. 30X2 cm; 25X2 cm.
3. "Kirdan" necklace [Hebron Region or possibly Beit Dajan]. Composed of 25 silver ornaments sewn onto a cotton fabric band. From these pendants, in turn, chains with pendants in the form of crescents, diamonds, and droplets are suspended. At center, large, crescent-shaped pendant from which three silver coins are suspended. 38X10 cm.
4. Beaded chain. Composed of cylindrical silver links. A set of three coins dangles from each of these links. The coins include Islamic and Russian coins, a Swiss coin, a British coin, and a 25-perutah Israeli coin dated 1949. 38X10 cm.
5. Beaded chain, product of folk art. [Hebron Valley]. Consisting of beads in shades of yellow, orange, and red; cylindrical metal links; a silver coin; and metal disks. 56X7.5 cm.
6. Chain with pendant composed of a long, cylindrical link with red stones at either end, and with bells dangling from bottom end. Approx. 50X2 cm.
