On the page before the title, there is an ownership inscription from 1855, signed by Rabbi Shimon Weiner. On leaf 141, there is a long gloss, on which his name is signed – Shimon Weiner.
Rabbi Shimon Weiner (1769-1871) was one of the early disciples of the Chatam Sofer and Rabbi Mordechai Bennet. Rabbi of St. Grud and Lashbrin. His sons also learned under the Chatam Sofer and K'tav Sofer. – See about him in the Chatam Sofer and His Disciples, pg. 153-154.
Ink-stamp on the title-page: Dr. S.B. –oof his grandson, son of his daughter, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman – Dr. Broyer (1850-1926) disciple of the Ktav Sofer (see about him in The Chatam Sofer and His Disciples, pg. 540-541). Son-in-law of Rabbi Shimshon Rafael Hirsh, and his successor in the Frankfurt rabbinate.
