Torah shield. England, first half of 20th Century. Silver (stamped), cast, engraved and sawn. Frame with baroque design and flowers. Ornaments that are screwed into center of shield: pair of lions holding aTorah crown with a Star of David at the top. Open holy ark, on its doors are engraved the Ten Commandments. On two sides are a pair of decorated pillars (ornament or compartment for holding a plate with name of the Torah portion– missing). Chains for hanging.
