Torah mantle. Spanish Morocco, 1906. Velvet, golden-threads embroidery. A typical mantle, widening downwards. Made of two embroidered velvet parts, with an opening in front. The parts of the mantle are named “Kisui” and “Glima”. The embroidery surrounds the two openings for the two Atzei Chayim. The mantle is made of black velvet richly embroidered in golden threads. Around the margins – an embroidery ribbon with a dense pattern. Embroidery pattern inside is sparse with floral motifs and birds. On the reverse, on the upper part, a dedication: “A Mappah… dedicated by Avraham Zarfati… in memory of his mother… 1906”. A round pattern of wreaths and birds below the dedication. Length: 82 cm, max. width: 48 cm. Good-fair condition. Some unraveled stitches, worn velvet.
