Two polemic proclamations – Orthodox communities in Hungary. 1930s.
1. Printed proclamation, particularly sharp and vicious attack on Rebbe Chaim Elazar Shapiro, rabbi of Munkacs (the Minchat Elazar), by the disciples of R. Shaul Brach Rabbi of Kashoi (Košice), a leading Hungarian rabbi. Kashoi, [Shevat] 1933.
The proclamation is directed against the Munkacs Beit Din and its head Rebbe Chaim Elazar Shapiro, who had publicly opposed the Kashoi kashrut system which was under R. Shaul Brach's supervision, and had disqualified a marriage where the latter had officiated. At the end, the writers mention the Zionist son-in-law of the Minchat Elazar, questioning his suitability as the rebbe's successor.
