Long autograph dedicatory inscription on title page, signed by the Author - R. Avraham David Lavut (1815-1890; forefather of the Lubavitcher Rebbe), rabbi of Nikolayev and a prominent Chabad rabbi. He was a close disciple of the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch and his son, the Rebbe Maharash.
At the end of the present copy is bound a bibliographically unknown corrections' leaf, which is not listed in the Bibliography of the Hebrew book, not bound to the copy held by the NLI, and does not appear in other copies examined by us. The present corrections' leaf is also not identical to the corresponding leaf, found in the Odessa 1870 edition.

Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Zalmansohn (ca. 1811-1872), Av Beit Din of Velizh. Grandson of the Mitteler Rebbe; Son-in-law of the Tzemach Tzedek. Rosh Yeshiva of the first yeshiva established by the Tzemach Tzedek in Lubavitch. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak married Rebbetzin Dvorah Leah, daughter of the Tzemach Tzedek, on 13 Elul 1826. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak’s mother was the daughter of the Mitteler Rebbe of Lubavitch; his paternal grandmother was the daughter of Rabbi Levi Yitzchok of Berdichev.

Rabbi Shneur Zalman son of Rabbi Nachum Yosef Schneerson (ca. 1828-1882), third generation to the Alter Rebbe, the Baal HaTanya – eldest son to Rebbetzin Sarah Rivka, eldest daughter of Rabbi Moshe Shneuri, son of the Alter Rebbe. Born in Lubavitch, emigrated to Hebron alongside Rebbetzin Menucha Rochel Slonim. Rabbi Schneur Zalman was a prominent Chassid of his relative, the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch. An important member of the Chabad community of Jerusalem, Rabbi Schneur Zalman served as Shadar (fund raising emissary) and as the manager of Kolel Chabad, and was a torah scholar and author, and a passionate collector of books and manuscripts; he eventually purchased the library of the Chida, and published several ancient manuscripts found in it. Rabbi Schneur Zalman made his living as a proofreader at R. Moshe Beck's famous Jerusalem printing house, and published several books, among them "Sefer Nimukei Shazbani", glosses and commentary on Rabbi Alfasi, and more.
