Album with 25 photographs of sites and inhabitants in Palestine. [Late 19th or early 20th century].
The album contains photographs of views and sites in Palestine (Western Wall, Jaffa Gate, Tomb of Absalom, Mount of Olives, Rachel's Tomb, Bethlehem, and more) as well as photographs of the country's inhabitants in traditional costumes (a Muslim woman, portrait of a Muslim man and a group photograph of Bedouins in Jericho). The photographs are mounted on the thick album leaves and titled in print on the album leaves (French).
The album is bound in a handsome olive wood binding, with leather spine. On the front binding appears a carved Jerusalem Cross and the word "Jerusalem" (printed) on the back binding appears the word "Jerusalem" .
25 photographs. Average size of photographs: 13.5X9 cm. Album: 17.5X11.5 cm. Good condition. Stains, some to photographs. Defects and some small tears to margins of album leaves. Glue remnants at right margins of the last leaf (where it is attached to the binding). Slight tears to spine.

1-12. A dozen photographs pasted to six thick paper boards (two photographs pasted on each board, one on each side), most probably by the Italian photographer Giacomo Brogi. Not signed. The photographs depict the Dome of the Rock, the Temple Mount, Mount of Olives, Valley of Josaphat, Tomb of Absalom and more. Seven are titled in Italian in the plate. Five are titled in English, by hand, on the paper boards.
Approx. 25X19 cm, paper boards: approx. 32X25 cm. Good overall condition. Stains. Tears and open tears to paper boards.

Six cabinet card photographs – taken in the studio of Garabed Krikorian in Jerusalem. Jerusalem, [late 19th century / early 20th century].
On the back of one photograph appears a dedication handwritten by the photographed (Joseph Lifshitz and Zipora Felman from Haifa), dated "Haifa, …" [1906].
Garabed Krikorian (1847-1918) was a Jerusalemite photographer of Armenian origin, born in Izmir. In the 1880s he opened a commercial photography studio in Jerusalem. He photographed not only in his studio but outside as well and, documented the visit of Kaiser Wilhelm II in Palestine in 1898 (afterwards adding to his photographs the title "Photographer of the Prussian Royal Court").
Six photographs, approx. 10X14 cm, mounted on the photographer's cardboard cards (cards approx. 11X16.5 cm). Good overall condition. Stains (to cards and to photographs). Slight damage to corners and margins of cards.

Two portrait photographs by the photographer Bernard Edelstein, and a photograph of the Great Yeshivah and Talmud Torah Mea Shearim. Cairo and Jerusalem, [early 20th century].
1. Portrait photograph of Shmuel Hashimshoni, by Bernard Edelstaein. Mounted on a cardboard card. A label is pasted on the card with photographer's name – "B. Edelstein Cairo".
Shmuel Hashimshoni was one of the first workers in Sejera farm. During World War I he lived in Cairo, where he was involved in Zionist activity.
Photograph: approx.5.5X8 cm (cardboard card: 9.5X15 cm). Good condition. Some stains and damages. Defects to cardboard card.
2. A portrait photograph by Bernard Edelstein (possibly a portrait of a member of the Edelstein family, one the first settlers in the Moshavah Kineret). Mounted on an original cardboard card of the photographer ("B. Edelstein, Mousky Street Cairo Egypt").

Seven photographs taken by Shlomo Narinsky (Naroni) from the time he worked in Jerusalem in the early 20th century.
1-4. Four cabinet card studio photos – portraits. The photos are mounted on original cards, and are stamped on their verso "Photography A. Beharav, photographer S. Narinsky" (Jerusalem). Handwritten dedications in French and Hebrew from 1907-1908.
One of the photographed is possibly Ya'akov Kantrowitz (1890-1961), one of the first students and workers at Bezalel, head of the Carpet Department at Bezalel, founder of the Marvadya workshop and its manager.
5. Cabinet Card portrait. Stamped on verso "Photography-Leumit, Jerusalem. Photograph S. Narinsky".
6. A portrait photograph mounted on a large cardboard sheet, with the stamp of the photographer "Shlomo Narinsky. Jerusalem". A handwritten dedication in French from December 28, 1909 appears on the verso of the cardboard.
7. Photograph of the Tower of David (not stamped). A postcard by the Jamal Brothers was printed after this photo.

3. Jerusalem, Then and Now, a Panorama from The Mount of Olives by Ronald Brownrigg and Frances Brownrigg. Printed by King & Jarrett, London, [ca. 1955]. A panoramic photograph printed on paper, folded into a booklet with points of interest and captions.
