Two portrait photographs by the photographer Bernard Edelstein, and a photograph of the Great Yeshivah and Talmud Torah Mea Shearim. Cairo and Jerusalem, [early 20th century].
1. Portrait photograph of Shmuel Hashimshoni, by Bernard Edelstaein. Mounted on a cardboard card. A label is pasted on the card with photographer's name – "B. Edelstein Cairo".
Shmuel Hashimshoni was one of the first workers in Sejera farm. During World War I he lived in Cairo, where he was involved in Zionist activity.
Photograph: approx.5.5X8 cm (cardboard card: 9.5X15 cm). Good condition. Some stains and damages. Defects to cardboard card.
2. A portrait photograph by Bernard Edelstein (possibly a portrait of a member of the Edelstein family, one the first settlers in the Moshavah Kineret). Mounted on an original cardboard card of the photographer ("B. Edelstein, Mousky Street Cairo Egypt").
Card: 10.5X6.5 cm. Good condition. Stains.
3. Group photograph of teachers and students of the Great Yeshivah and Talmud Torah Mea Shearim. Possibly photographed by L. Edelstein, Bernard's brother.
15X10.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Tears at margins, restored with adhesive tape. Open tear at top left corner (restored with pasted paper).
