Collection of letters and documents from the estate of Menachem Rivlin (1903-1983). Rivlin was born in Bendery, Tighina, Moldova, former Serbia. Was an underground Zionist activist with Prof. Bichovsky in the headquaters of the Zionist Organization. Being fluent in Hebrew he was appointed by Nahum Zemach, the director of "Habima", as his personal secretary. Rivlin was sent in 1922 on a trip to enhance the activity of the Zionist Organization chapters in central Russia and the Volga province and in 1923 made Aliya to Eretz Israel. Rivlin was involved, for many years, with "Magen", a society acting for Prisoners of Zion in Israel and abroad. One of the founders and secretary of "Hevel Yami Le-Israel". Wrote for "HaPoel HaTza'ir" paper and dealt with literature, editing and translation. For additional information see attached material.
Included amongst the items are: *16 letters sent by Menachem Rivlin to his brother, Gershon Rivlin. *45 letters sent to Rivlin, 1930s-70s, concerning a wide variety of topics (literature, Russian Jewry, HaHevel HaYami LeIsrael, etc). * Different tickets: entrance ticket to a special Knesset session on the occasion of Herzl's reburial in Jerusalem (1949), invitation ticket to the first council of Hagganah members in Israel (1950), delegate ticket to the first convention of Hagganah members (1952), and additional items.
