1. Latroun Battles (25.5.1948 -11.6.1948) (primary drawings from a book about the War of Independence), by lieutenant colonel I. Bar. [1955]. Booklet about the Latroun battles. On the title-page there's a dedication handwritten by Bar, in German, to Gershon Rivlin. 7-94 pp, 24 cm. Good condition.
2. Copy of a composition handwritten by Gershon Rivlin about his encounters and his acquaintance with Israel Bar. The composition is addressed to Yehuda Koren. Good condition.
Israel Bar (1912-1966) was a "Haganah" member. Upon the establishment of IDF he was appointed as one of two assistants to the Operations Branch Commander and the deputy Chief of Staff. Served as head of the Projects Department of the Operations Branch and as head of the Security Department. Bar was arrested in March 1961 and accused of espionage for the Soviets. Was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Bar appealed and his imprisonment was changed to 15 years. Bar died in prison of a heart attack in May 1966.
