Paris: Pierre Bien-Fait, 1666. French. Third edition (the work was first published in 1657).
Description of a journey made by the French churchman Jean Doubdan to Palestine in 1652. With 11 engraved plates (out of 14), six of them folding, including maps and illustrations of various sites in Palestine – map of Jerusalem, views of the Mount of Olives, Mount Carmel, Mount Tabor, Golgotha and more.
Incomplete copy. [7], 714, [4] pp. + [11] engraved plates (6 folding). pp. 537-544 are bound after p. 528. Missing: [3] engraved plates (two of them folding) and [6] pp. (indices and errata) at the end of the volume. 23 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains. Tears, some of them open, affecting text (large open tears to pp. 195-198, significantly affecting text, restored with paper). Tears to the folding engraved plates, some of them restored with paper (one plate is mounted entirely on paper for reinforcement). Original binding, slightly worn. Gilt impressions on spine.
