Hanukkah lamp. Fez or Meknès, Morocco, [early 20th century].
Sheet brass, repoussé and punched; cast brass.
Back plate in form of gently tapering arch. Decorations influenced by decorative elements on Dutch Hanukkah lamps, including hemispherical bosses in high relief and, in center, upside-down heart boss. Surface densely and entirely covered with vegetal and geometric patterns. Row of oil fonts with pinched, pointed spouts for wicks, floating above drip pan, attached to back plate, near bottom. Servant light attached to back plate in center, just below apex. Suspension loop.
Height: 31 cm. Width: 25.5 cm. Good condition. Evidence of soldering.
