Papercut depicting a scene in a synagogue. [Europe or U.S.], 1921.
Symmetrical composition. In the center are figures in a synagogue, surrounded by a frame of decorations, at the top of which is a Star of David with the Hebrew letters "yod-yod", a crown and two angels blowing horns. Signed and dated: "M.D. Kant. 21".
Papercut approx. 12X16 cm, on paper approx. 17X22 cm. Framed. Slight defects. A few small pieces missing (with a few substitutions in ink). Unexamined out of frame.

"Mizrah" - papercut created by Yehudit Shadur. Signed (in Hebrew and English) and dated, 1975.
Papercut; pasted colorful papers.
"Mizrah" in an architectonic design, with an arch on top, two columns and a balcony. A pair of lions supporting the Tablets of the Law appear on top; in the center appears a seven-branched Menorah supported by two griffons and topped by the inscription "Mizrah". A pair of peacocks, two lion-heads, and vegetal decorations appear on the margins as well as the inscription "Mitzad Zeh Ruach Chaim" (from this direction comes the spirit of life). Mounted on gold-painted cardboard, 50.5X41 cm. Overall good condition. Small tears. Some stains.

Papercut; pasted golden paper.
"Mizrah". On four corners appears the inscription "Mitzad Zeh Ruach Chaim" (from this direction comes the spirit of life - in Hebrew, the initials of Mizrah). In the center appears the Dome of the Rock surrounded by the inscription "A'ale et Yerushalayim al Rosh Simchati". Around the dome appear trees, gates, walls, houses and towers with turrets. On the lower part appear a seven-branched Menorah, two vases with plants and two deer.
32.5X42.5 cm. Good condition. Framed (unexamined out of frame).

The text: Five scrolls (Song of Songs, Ruth, Eicha, Kohelet, Esther), written on 149 miniature paper leaves bound together as a book (the title "Five Scrolls" opens the book. Additional title pages for each scroll). The book is attached to the top of a glass ornament shaped as a young man (holding the book in his hands).
Height of leaves: approx. 2 cm. Slight defects to book. Some stains. Loose or detached leaves. Inserted in a wood and glass display case with a magnifying glass in front, and a mirror on the back panel.

Written in a symmetric composition composed of two candlesticks with candles, two hands above the candlesticks, two Challahs, two grapevines with clusters of grapes, Kiddush Cup and the inscription "Shabbat Kodesh". Designed after a sketch by Ze'ev Raban, for an embroidered Shabbat tablecloth (See: Raban Remembered, Jerusalem's Forgotten Master, catalogue of an exhibition at "Yeshivah University, New-York, 1982, item 160).

Printed above the illustration is the inscription: "A gift presented to" (printed on all copies of the micrography), after which Moses Elijah Goldsten added, in handwriting, the name of the receiver: "The wondrous Rabbi… Shlomo son of Yosef Teplitz". Printed on the bottom are details regarding the micrography, in Hebrew and German.
Leaf: approx. 38X45.5 cm. Mounted on cardboard and attached to passe-partout. Good condition. Light stains.
