Set of Mishna Berura – "Glossed" – Warsaw-Pietrekov, 1896-1911

Opening: $400
Unsold
Six parts of Mishna Berura, commentary on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim, by Rabbi Yisrael Meir HaCohen of Radin, The Chafetz Chaim. Warsaw-Pietrekov, 1896-1911.
Written at beginning of each book in the author's holy handwriting in ink or pencil: "Glossed". [The Chafetz Chaim was careful to check each book for sale from printing mistakes (exchanged sheets or empty leaves) lest he G-d forbid transgress the prohibition of stealing and cheating if a damaged book is sold at regular price. He wrote on Forzats leaves of each book that he checked "Glossed", (it is accepted knowledge that he himself was careful to write this lest those who help him in his holy work write "Glossed" without checking the book thoroughly enough). Many of these inscriptions disappeared throughout the years because the books were rebound or the inscription was erased].
6 volumes, varied size and condition. Worn original bindings, owners and library stamps, handwritten gloss.
