He would frequent the courts of the great tzaddikim, including his teacher and mentor R. Chaim Meir Yechiel Shapiro, the Seraph of Mogielnica, his brother-in-law, R. Ze'ev of Józefów, and R. Yerachmiel of Peshischa. He would fast from one Shabbat to another for many years and would distribute all his wealth and possessions to widows and orphans. He immigrated to Jerusalem in 1860 and continued his lofty conduct. His other books include: Romemut Nishmat Yisrael, Tzedah LaDerech, Sefer HaChaim, Divrei Torah, Shivchei HaAretz HaKedoshah, and more.

Ahavat HaKadmonim – year-round siddur, according to the original rite of the community of Fez (Morocco). Jerusalem: Shmuel HaLevi Zuckerman, 1889. Rare first edition. Two title pages, the first colored. Illustrations of holy sites on verso of second title page and last leaf.
Weekday, Shabbat and festival prayers, according to the original Fez rite before the arrival of Spanish exiles with the Sephardic rite. According to the introduction by the proofreader, this siddur, the first printed edition of this rite, is based on a manuscript from the one synagogue in Fez that preserved the original rite.
On leaves 79-83, halachic ruling (dated 1715) on ownership and division of income from that synagogue.

The title page mentions novellae on Pesachim and Or Zarua LaTzaddik, but only Or Zarua LaTzaddik was printed. The novellae on Pesachim were later printed under the same name in 1891.
R. Hillel Moshe Meshel Gelbstein (1832-1908), disciple of the Seraph of Kotzk and the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch. In 1868, he immigrated to Jerusalem, where he concentrated on the study of topics related to the Temple, using his books to strengthen the fulfillment of the commandment of guarding the holy site.
