1-7. Small notices calling for enlistment to Etzel forces and bearing slogans (Hebrew) like "enough with life of entertainment", "If I am not for myself – who will be for me?" and "Shatter the chains of slavery, be a free and proud man". [1947].

8. Announcement made by the Etzel, stating that "Through an act of expropriation, seldom equaled in the history of revolutionary organizations […] our soldiers confiscated 35 thousand Palestine Pounds from the British Government […] gold will become iron: and iron will bring liberty […]". [1946].

Among the Items:
* Two photographs of street celebrations in Tel Aviv after the announcement of the UN General Assembly on November 29, 1947. One photo bears the stamp of the photographer Hans Chaim Pinn on its verso. The verso of the second is stamped "Press Association, Inc." and apparently was also photographed by Pinn. Both were taken at the Magen David Square in Tel Aviv, shortly after the results of the vote were reported. * A drawing (ink on paper) of the street celebrations after the UN announcement on November 29, 1947. Stamped and dated Nov. 30, 1947. * Three maps presenting the map of Palestine according to the partition plan. Two maps were taken from the festive issue of Dvar HaShavuah, the third was published by Pales Press Co. * Two booklets published by Haaretz, containing full versions of the report of the UN Research Committee and the resolution of the UN General Assembly. * Photo of Chaim Weizmann with Harry Truman, the 33rd US president. Truman is seen holding a Torah scroll (Weizmann gave it to Truman as a gift at their meeting in 1948). More.

Ten handwritten letters, sent by fighters and Jewish inhabitants during the Independence War. Kfar Witkin, Jaffa and other places, 1947-1948.
1. A long and interesting letter, sent by a Haganah fighter named Haim to a person named Ephraim, with a detailed report about the war occurrences: the massacre in Haifa refineries, attacks on the water supply line to the Negev, attack on Kfar Szold, reaction of the Arabs to the declaration of the establishment of the State of Israel, tension between the Haganah and Etzel and Lehi, forming battalions and training fighters, and other subjects.
2. Short letter from the same writer to the same recipient, describing, apparently, the reaction of Jews in Tel-Aviv to the results of the UN vote on November 29.
3-6. Four letters sent by a woman named Menuha in Kfar Witkin to a person named Gideon in Paris (in several places in the letters the recipient is named "Ephraim"). Mentioned in the letters, among others, are news from the various fronts in the country, establishment of a "Jewish Brigade" battalion, managing the farm during the war and other topics. It is possible, that the recipient of all six letters is Ephraim Bloch, member of a patrol company of the Palmach who was sent to France on behalf of the "Haganah". The writer of the first two letters is, probably, the commander of the Palmach patrol company Haim Ron.
7-10. Four letters sent by Moshe Alperovich, student in "Mikve Israel", to his parents and family. The first two letters were sent when Alperovich was in school and mentioned in them are the bombing of the ice factory by the Palmach, the bombing of "HaYotzek" factory" by the British, Arab assaults from the nearby villages of Yazur, Abu Kabir and Tel A-Rish and other topics; the other two letters were sent, apparently, after Alperovich was drafted, when he served in one of the fronts.
10 letters, size and condition vary. Good-fair overall condition. Stains, creases and folding marks. Some tears along the folding lines and margins. Inscriptions by hand appear on the bottom margins of one letter and on the reverse of another letter.

Five items – letters and certificates documenting daily life in Nahariya during the War of Independence siege. Nahariya, March-April 1948. Hebrew and German.
1. Circular letter on behalf of the local council, in Hebrew and German, dated 4.4.48, concerning limiting use of electricity to one light bulb, 40 Watt, per home, and limited use of electricity by factories and institutes.
2. Travel authorization from a physician for medical treatment in Haifa, dated 14.4.48. Printed and completed by hand.
3-4. Two personal letters in German, typewritten (with additions written by hand). The letters were sent from Nahariya on 25.3.48 and on 16.4.48. Mentioned in the letter dated 16.4.48 are limitations of food and kerosene as well as the difficulty in travelling from and to the city.
5. "Card for Kerosene", from the months February-April 1948. Ink-stamped with "Mishmar HaAm" stamp and the local council, with details filled-in by hand. This card confirms receipt of kerosene for a household of three people.
In March-May 1948 Nahariya was disconnected from the Jewish Yishuv in the country by Arab villages in the area. Transport to the city could only be through sea via boats from Haifa port, and leaving the city was permitted only for special purposes. Use of electricity for private homes and for businesses was limited.

"Sha'alu Shlom Yerushalayim", "an open call and plea to all fighting parties in Jerusalem from the Haredi residents. Jerusalem, [January, 1948].
A public notice to "our Arab Neighbors" and to "our Jewish, Zionist and National Brothers" to leave Jerusalem out of the war due to its holiness and due to unwillingness on the part of its inhabitants to fight the Arabs. The notice also turns to the British Mandate Administration, as a leading power, to respect the holiness of Jerusalem. The notice is signed by "Vaadat HaMatzav of the Edah HaCharedit". Stated on the bottom of this notice is that "it is printed in Hebrew, Arabic and English", but presented here is a single leaf in Hebrew.
