Portfolio with a dozen lithographs created by Ernst Stern – illustrations for the play "Pandora's Box" by Frank Wedekind‏ (Benjamin Franklin Wedekind), all signed by Stern (in pencil). The title on the front of the folder is a lithograph as well. Copy number 16/55, signed by the publisher.
Ernst Stern (1876-1954), Jewish-German stage-set designer, born in Romania. Worked for Deutsches Theater in Berlin (directed by Max Reinhardt,) and designed dozens of sets for the theater. Immigrated to London after the Nazis rose to power.
