A research book with reproductions of one hundred aerial photographs of Palestine, taken by the German army during World War I (retrieved from an archive in Bavaria), with an introduction and detailed explanations by the scholar Gustaf Dalman, the first director of the "German Evangelical Institute for Research of Ruins in the Holy Land in Jerusalem". A folding plate at the end of the book – Map of Palestine.
158 pp + [1] folding map, 32 cm. Good condition. Stains. The map is darkened and stained, with tear at margins. Two tiny holes and a bookplate on front endpaper. A bookmark, attached to a transparency, is detached.
