Six books by Lafcadio Hearn, illustrated by Emil Orlik. Frankfurt: Literarische Anstalt Rütten & Loening, 1905-1921. German.
Lafcadio Hearn (1850-1904, known also by the Japanese name Koizumi Yakumo) was an author known for his books about Japan and the anthologies of Japanese literature which he edited. Hearn, born in Greece, settled in Japan in 1890. Emil Orlik (1870-1932) stayed in Japan in 1900-1901 and studied the art of Japanese prints.
Five of the books are limited editions and four are bound in matching artistic vellum bindings.

3. Izumo, 1907. 314 pp, 20 cm. New vellum binding, not original. Unnumbered, limited edition.
4. Buddha, 1910, 268, [10] pp, 20.5 cm. Vellum binding, with golden decorations and decorated end papers designed by Emil Orlik. Unnumbered, limited edition.
5. Kyushu, 1910. 298 [12] pp, 20.5 cm. Vellum binding, with golden decorations and decorated end papers designed by Emil Orlik. Unnumbered, limited edition.
6. Kwaidan, 1921. 198 pp, 18.5 cm. Cardboard binding.
Six books. Very good overall condition. Some minor stains. Bookplate in one of the books and ownership inscriptions in two books. Some minor damages to bindings. Some tears.
