A medal struck to commemorate the victories of the allied forces of France and England in the Crimean War. [France], 1854.
Obverse: Portrait of Queen Victoria and Emperor Napoleon III, surmounted by a triangle with beams of light and the Tetragrammaton. A legend in French appears around the portraits: "Reine D’angleterre, Empereur Des Francais", and the artist's signature – Monatagny F. On the bottom appears a legend in French commemorating the treaty signed between France and England in 1853. Reverse: Legend in French commemorating a number of outstanding victories of the allies – breaking into Bomarsund fortress and battles in the area of Sevastopol. Legend on the rim: "Cuivre".
Diameter: 52 mm. Good condition. Slight defect to rim, near the legend.
