Tunisia was under the Nazi regime from November 1942 until May 1943. When the Nazis occupied Tunisia they founded a local Jewish Judenrat. Tunisian Jews were obliged to wear a Yellow badge and supply all the needs of the German army. Many Jews were shot to death in their homes or in Death Marches. About 4000 Jews were deported to concentration camps in Tunisia and some others were deported to extermination camps.
