Booklet of photographs taken during a voyage through Palestine (from Gedera to Metulah) in 1898, embarked on by Isaiah Raffalovich with his friend Eliyahu (Elijah) Meyers, an "American Colony" photographer. The voyage followed a commission from Raffalovich to prepare a photo-album with views from Palestine for the Third Zionist Congress, held in Basel in the following year.
On the verso of some of the photograph leaves captions are printed describing the photographed sites. A number of photographs are particularly large, printed on folding plates. Bound in a fine binding, made of cloth-covered cardboard, with gold endpapers. On the front free endpaper is a dedication in silver letters: "To our beloved Zelig Russetzky on his thirteenth birthday (Bar Mitzvah), a souvenir from Moshe Berkowitz and his wife", dated: Tevet 5684 (1923).
[4] leaves, 57 plates, 17.5X25 cm. Fair condition. Foxing and dampstains throughout the booklet. Tears to margins of a number of leaves and to one of the folding plates (to fold line). Stains and tears to binding.
