A book with thirty six engravings after paintings by the Italian-German artist Luigi Mayer (1755-1803). The engravings depict views, figures and sites in Palestine (view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, Pool of Bethesda, Tomb of Absalom, Valley of Jehoshaphat, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Tiberias, and more). Each engraving is captioned in German and French and is accompanied by a text composed by German theologian Johann Georg Rosenmüller.
