Two postcards with the lyrics of "HaTikva" and musical notes. Russia and the United States, first decades of the 20th century.
1. A postcard with the refrain of "HaTikva". Published by I.L. Zuesskind, St. Petersburg, 1902.
An undivided postcard depicting a young man and an old man in traditional Jewish garments, under palm trees on the background of more palm trees and marching people. By the illustration appears the refrain of "HaTikva" in its first version: "Od lo avda tikvatenu / Hatikva hanoshana …" and musical notes for the whole song (the verses and the refrain), with the lyrics in Latin transcript. On the back of the postcard appears a Star of David with the word "Zion".
14X9 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, damage and creases. Tears at corners, some restored. Peelings to the back.
2. A postcard with all the verses of "HaTikva". Published by The Jewish National Flag, M. Grossmark, New York, [first decades of 20th century].
All the nine verses of "HaTikva" appear on the postcard under the title "HaTikva", topped with a striped flag with a Star of David.
