Two broadsides issued by the Irgun dealing with the murder of two fighters of the Irgun and the Lehi at the detention camp in Sambal, Eritrea. [Palestine, 1946].
Two broadsides dealing with a shooting that occurred in January 1946 at the British detention camp in Sambal, Eritrea, where members of the underground movements Irgun and Lehi were imprisoned. During the incident, Sudanese soldiers opened fire on detainees of the camp and killed two of them – Eliyahu Ezra and Shaul Haglili.
1. Broadside in memory of the Irgun fighter Eliyahu Ezra and the Lehi fighter Shaul Haglili "who were murdered by the British enslavers at the concentration camp in Eritrea".
19.5X29.5 cm. Good condition. Creases and tiny tears to margins.
2. "Public statement" (Hebrew), a broadside reporting on the shooting at the detention camp in Eritrea, demanding to establish an international commission of inquiry and announcing that "those who deported Jews from their homeland and forsake them to wither and die on foreign land – the court of the Jewish resistance shall judge" (Hebrew).
