Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Berachot and Mishnayot of Seder Zera'im. Slavita, 1808. Printed by Dov Ber ben Yisrael Segal and Dov Ber ben Pesach. Published by R. Mordechai son of R. Baruch of Irsa [who printed the Talmud at the behest of his brother the Rebbe, Ba'al HaTanya, R. Shneur Zalman son of Baruch].
On the verso of the title page are seven approbations, including approbations by leading Chassidic figures: R. Shneur Zalman of Liadi, R. Levi Yitzchak of Berdychiv and R. Aryeh Leib of Volochysk, with mention of the publisher, R. Baruch of Irsa and R. Shalom Shachne of Stolin. The Ba'al HaTanya wrote that the printing was done at his personal request: "… Recently printed by my faithful emissaries, my exceptional brother…R. Mordechai, and…R. Shalom Shachne...".
Some of the title page is printed in red ink. Part of the copy was printed on bluish paper.
[1], 100; 72 leaves. Leaves bound out of their proper order (leaves 99-100 at end of volume). 33 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains. Worming to text. Restored tears to margins of title page and several other leaves. New elegant leather binding.
