Printing on satin cloth; cotton cloth.
Torah curtain designed by the artist Meir Ben-Uri, on the initiative of the Ministry of Religions, intended for the celebrations of the Day of Independence of the State of Israel. According to Ben-Uri, the curtain design unites the "symbols-signs-nuances that express the idea of 'independence' and the aspiration for full redemption in the State of Israel" ("HaTzofeh" newspaper, 3 May 1955). In the center of the curtain is a verse that appears in the Independence Day prayer: "Just as we have been blessed with the Beginnings of Redemption, so shall we soon be blessed with full redemption".
