Three Bedouin or Palestinian necklaces / head ornaments. Jordan, Palestine, or vicinity, [early 20th century].
Silver; silver coins.
1. Wide, braided chain, to be suspended from head covering. Short chains with silver coins, in addition to two frog-shaped pendants, dangle from main chain (see also item no. 289). 90X14 cm.
2. Chain (probably functioned as a necklace) with large silver coin as pendant, from which another 14 long chains dangle, with silver coins or disks at their ends. 62X6 cm.
3. Head ornament composed of three wide, braided chains – connected by a central link – intended to be suspended from head covering. Two of the chains would be placed on either side of the head, while the third, with a loop for a pendant, would be suspended in front of the neck and chest. 56X26 cm.
