Three banknotes with the face value of 10 Palestine Pounds, issued by the Anglo-Palestine Bank. 1948.
The banknotes of the "Anglo-Palestine Bank" were the first series of banknotes of the State of Israel. They were printed in New York before the declaration of independence and due to the ban on printing foreign currency in the USA – bore only the caption Palestine Pounds and the details of the bank (the inscription "Currency notes are legal tender for the payment of any amount", which legalized the banknotes was printed later and separately). The banknotes were smuggled to the country in July 1948 and were put into circulation in August.
