[Moshe Mendelssohn], translation into German of a Hebrew song of thanksgiving by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Lifshitz (Hartog Leo), concerning the victory of King Friedrich over the Austrian army in the Leuthen battle, on December 8 1757.
News about this victory arrived in Berlin on December 8 1757, on the eve of lighting the second Hanukah candle. The event was commemorated by the Jews on the following Shabbat by reading this verse of thanksgiving composed by Lifshitz and with an enthusiastic sermon held by Rabbi David Fränckel.
