Siddur Derech Ha-Chaim - Copy Owned by Rabbi Avraham Eiger, with New Glosses from his Father Rabbi Akiva Eiger

Opening: $3,000
Unsold
Siddur Tefilat Israel, with Derech Ha-Chaim, compilation of Dinim by Gaon Rabbi Ya'akov of Lissa. Roedelheim, 1833. Ownership inscription in beautiful Rashi handwriting:"Belongs to Rabbi Avraham Eiger at Rawicz" [identical to an inscription found on the Yevamot tractate of the Talmud owned by Rabbi Avraham Eiger -"Kedem" catalogue auction 6 item 198 - see enclosed photocopy]. Remarks and insights have been added to the Siddur's Halachot in Rabbi Akiva Eiger's handwriting. Rabbi Akiva Eiger's glosses on the"Derech Ha-Chaim" were [later] printed in the Siddur"Otzar Ha-Tefilot" and were copied from his manuscript in the copies of the second edition (Altona 1831). The glosses contained in the present manuscript include the printed ones as well as many more new glosses that were never brought to print. [Either because the printers chose to leave [those parts] out, or because Rabbi Avraham Eiger's copy came from a more thorough edition of his father Rabbi Akiva Eiger[˜s glosses]. The present copy includes a real treasure packed with new glosses from Rabbi Akiva Eiger's teachings - see enclosed letter by expert]. It would appear that the person who copied those glosses was Rabbi Avraham Eiger himself or another relative.
Rabbi Avraham Eiger of Rawicz (1779-1854) Rabbi Akiva Eiger's oldest son who edited his father's responses for print with his additions"AABH" [=said by Avraham son of the author].
