Autograph letter signed by Shoshana Damari. Sent from Philadelphia to Tel Aviv, September 1948.
Handwritten letter on an aerogram which Shoshana Damari sent to her husband, Shlomo ben Menashe-Bosmi. In the letter, she tells of interviews she gave and her surprise that people in the US were familiar with her name. She begs her husband to write to her more often. At the end of the letter, she mentions the assassination of Lord Bernadotte and of the renewal of fighting in Jerusalem.
Shoshana Damari (1923-2006), an Israeli singer, born in the city of Bashar in the Dhamar province of Yemen, earned the title of the "Queen of Hebrew Music" and was awarded the Israel Prize in 1988.
18.5X30 cm. Fair-good condition. Folding marks and stains. Tears. Few open tears to margins and along the folding lines (slightly affecting text).
