"Prepare for the Constituent Assembly" (Hebrew), a broadside issued by the executive committee of the provisional committee headed by Dr. Ya'akov Thon. Jaffa: Sa'adia Shoshani press, [November/December 1918].
A broadside dealing with the "constituent assembly" (in time, the first Assembly of Representatives), while addressing its duties and the polemic in the Yishuv surrounding women's suffrage.
After Palestine was conquered by the British during World War I, the Yishuv began efforts to form a nationwide framework that will represent it before the British authorities. In December 1917, the first "constituent assembly" gathered in Jaffa during which a provisional committee was established with the purpose of organizing elections for parliament in the Yishuv. In 1918, two additional constituent assemblies were gathered. The third constituent assembly, which gathered in December 1918 (before which this broadside was printed), discussed the establishment of various institutions and the attitude of the Yishuv to the Zionist Organization. It decided that women will be given the right to vote and decided on a date for the general elections. The elections were postponed until April 1920, then the "constituent assembly" was established under its new name –The Assembly of Representatives.
