"Tel-Chai Fund in Palestine, Hanukkah Enterprise 1939" (Hebrew), poster. Linocut: Zvi Bergman. Tel Aviv: Dayag Press, [1939].
A large poster issued by the Tel-Chai Fund, calling to donate to "the reinforcement and security of the recruitment companies". The poster lists the equipment and activities to which the donations will go: fences, spotlights, courses, sport, agricultural machines, sheds, absorption of immigrants, medical help.
The Tel-Chai Fund was established subsequent to the 1929 Palestine Riots as the fundraising arm of the Revisionist Movement; its declared objectives were to support Jewish defense in Palestine and to teach Jewish youth self-defense. The members of the Betar youth movement were involved in fundraising activities for the fund, which led to competition between the Tel-Chai Fund and the Jewish National Fund over fundraising.
Approx. 63X95 cm. Good-fair condition. Creases and fold lines. Stains. Tears to edges and fold lines, some mended with tape.
