"Sabbatay Sevi", a rare engraved portrait of Sabbatai Zevi, from the booklet Relation de la véritable imposture du faux Messie des Juifs, nomme Sabbatay Sevi. [Avignon, 1667].
An engraved portrait of Sabbatai Zevi wearing a turban (facing left). The booklet from which the engraving was taken includes an early testimony on Sabbatai Zevi and his conversion to Islam (Gershom Scholem attributed the writing of the booklet to the Jesuit priest Jacques Becherand; however, this assumption was rejected by Prof. Shlomo Simonsohn).
Print: 17.5X12 cm, mounted on paper. Good condition. Minor stains to margins.
