Portrait of R. Refael HaCohen Katz on the background of his library, his book Marpeh Lashon beside him. German inscription: "Raphael Cohn Berühmter Ober Rabiner Der Juden in Altona Hamburg und Wandsbek", with the inscription in Hebrew as well.
Oval engraving, 19X23.5 cm. Cut on plate-border and partially mounted on 21X25.5 cm paper (dark-hued paper, tears to margins). Good-fair condition. Few stains. Several peelings to paper, affecting the engraving.
