Pentateuch [and five Megillot]. Anoyrsha (Antwerp), [1565], by Christophoro Plantin, ordered by Sir (Daniel) Bombergy.
Printed in a number of forms. Location of Megillot changes with each edition, at times they were not attached at all. In front of us we have Volume I, which includes the Pentateuch and the Five Megillot in 8° form (According to the Publisher in 4° form, printed by Plantin that same year, in the same alphabetical order, but different paging – see previous item).
On the Colophon of this edition (on the title page) the following is written "Printed by… Cristophoro Plantin, as ordered by Sir Bombergy, may he merit a long life, in the year of 1565, here, in the praised city of Anoyrsha". In the last pages there are handwritten notes in foreign writing from the years 1745 and 1875.
511; [64] pages, 11cm. Good condition. Slight tears at the edges of first and last pages. Title page is stained, margins are torn and missing and it is pasted upon a piece of paper from a later time to strengthen it. Modern leather cover.
