Printed beneath the panorama is a key of the 177 sites marked on the panorama with numbers. Text on the following page, recounting Christian traditions related to the site on which the Dormition Abbey was established and the describing the acquisition of the land and the building of the Abbey (noting that the land was bought by Emperor Wilhelm II in late October 1898, during his visit to Palestine).
