Three photographic "Shana Tovah" postcards, with portraits of the senders or their family members. Tel-Aviv and London, [first half of the 20th century].
1. "Happy New Year… Tel-Aviv, Palestine, 5694" (Hebrew). The text surrounds the sender's portrait, with the Western Wall seen in the background. On verso, "shana tovah" greetings by the sender. Tel-Aviv, 1933.
2. "May you be inscribed for a good year, Tel-Aviv, 5694" (Hebrew). The text appears on the upper part of the postcard and beneath it appears the sender's portrait against the backdrop of Tel-Aviv houses. On verso, "shana tovah" greetings by the sender. Tel-Aviv, 1936.
3. "May your sealing be good, may you be inscribed and sealed for a good year". The text appears above a baby's portrait. Photography: The Herman Studio, London, [second half of the 20th century].

Among them, a small photographic greeting card printed in Dąbrowica, Ukraine, 1933; a postcard with a photograph of illegal immigrants on a ship; a greeting card that was sent to the wounded of the War of Independence, with a "get well" (Hebrew) wish for Rosh Hashanah; and additional postcards.
Size varies. Condition varies, fair to good.

Four "Shana Tovah" Yiddish postcards and a Zionist "Shana Tovah" greeting card for the year 5708 (1948). Published by Williamsburg Post Card Co., "Z. Resnik" and other publishing houses, New York, Stuttgart, and elsewhere, [ca. second half of the 20th century].
1-4. Four "Shana Tovah" postcards: three colorful postcards with Yiddish greetings for the New Year (two of them signed in the plate by the designer – Chaim Goldberg); postcard with a photograph of a Jewish couple, alongside a Yiddish humorous text (The caption "LeShana Tovah" is printed on verso).
9X14 cm. Good to good-fair condition. Stains and blemishes. Tears and creases to margins. Creases and open tears to the margins of one of the postcards, affecting the print. Handwritten inscriptions (old) on verso of three of the postcards.

"Shana Tovah" greeting card that was sent from a training kibbutz in Italy after World War II. [Italy], [1945].
The illustration on front depicts a pioneer spreading his legs wide from Italy to Palestine, with the caption: "May you be written and sealed for a Happy New Year, the Eve of Rosh Hashana 5706, from the training" (Hebrew); on verso, a handwritten dedication (German): "All the best for the New Year, wishing you warmly and sincerely, your Clara".
The illustration is signed in the plate: "MB".

The collection contains postcards depicting customs from the Jewish cycle of the year, biblical themes, children, flowers, birds and messengers bearing Happy New Year greetings, and alongside them, several greeting cards decorated with photographs from Palestine and postcards published by the "HaVaad HaArtzi LeMaan HaChayal"(National Committee for the Soldier) close to the establishment of the state, depicting photographs of the signing of the Scroll of Independence, military parades and more.
Size and condition vary. Good overall condition.
