This is the earliest printed Hebrew calligraphic manual. The book shows the particular attention paid by Italian sages to the art of script and its integration as a necessary part of learning reading and writing Hebrew. In addition, the book serves as a remarkable example of the high level of artistic illustrations and the quality of printing typical of Italian Jews of the period.
