Inscription and signature on the headline of the title page: “…bought… [by] Yitzchak Grishaver”.
Additional owner’s inscription “bought from Rabbi David Broda”.
Rabbi Yitzchak Itzk Grishaver (1841-1923), Av Beit Din of Paks, was one of the disciples of the Noda Bi-Yehuda and one of the greatest Torah scholars of his generation. He sided with the Chatam Sofer on his war against the Reform Rabbi Aharon Churiner (Ache"r) who wanted to authorize the consumption of the Tik (Shtirel) fish. See in his book “Makel No’am” (Vienna, 1899).
